Trailer and synopsis for Jolene

Based on the provocative short story ‘Jolene: A Life’ by celebrated author E. L. Doctorow, director Dan Ireland’s film JOLENE follows a beautiful young red-headed Southern girl from ages fifteen to twenty-five, as she navigates her way through bad foster homes and a failed teenage marriage, escapes from a mental institution, and hits the road looking for love and adventure throughout America. During her journey, Jolene is introduced into a series of relationships with men who all desire her, but misfortune usually intervenes as she searches for the life she yearns.

I think it looks rather interesting, definitely worth a watch. It went through a limited release on October 29th.

Michael’s slated to be involved in a new web-series entitled Backwash. The series debuts Nov. 15 on Crackle.com.

Backwash stars Michael Ian Black, Joshua Malina (The West Wing, Sports Night) and Michael Panes. The trailer shows them amongst the guest stars including Jon Hamm, Sarah Silverman, John Stamos, Allison Janney, Michael Vartan, Hank Azaria, Fred Willard, David Wain.

The 13-episode series written by Joshua Malina, follows “three slacker friends and the adventures that ensue after they hit the road in an ice cream truck after one of them inadvertently robs $100K from a bank armed only with a large salami.”

This is so exciting! I’m so glad Michael is getting back in there and doing a new TV Show! Hopefully people will tune in for it!

WHO: Michael Vartan

YOU KNOW HIM FROM: He co-starred with Jennifer

Garner on “Alias” (2001-06) and also headlined the short-lived ABC drama “Big Shots” (2007-08).

NEW GIG: He’ll co-star in TNT’s “Time Heals,” a drama centered on the head of nursing (Jada Pinkett-Smith) at a hospital in North Carolina. Vartan will play the hospital’s director of medicine, who works closely with Pinkett-Smith’s character and may have a personal relationship with her as well. Vartan takes over the role from Jeffrey Nordling (“24″), who played the part in the pilot.

AIR DATE: Later this year.

New Project

If you have looked at the sidebar recently, you will have noticed that Michael is working on a new project. The movie will be called “High School” and Michael will be playing the Calculus Teacher. They’re currently filming it and it will be released in 2011. Here is the synopsis of the film:

A random drug test coincides with a high school valedictorian’s first hit of pot. With his college scholarship at stake, he enlists the school’s biggest stoner to help nullify the results of the screening – by getting the entire student body high.

The plot kind of sounds a little weird and shaking, but I trust Michael to do a good movie. I can’t wait until the movie comes out!
