DEAR STACY: I'm a big fan of the TV series "Alias," especially Michael Vartan, who plays Vaughn. Can you tell me about him? Has he been in movies or TV before? -- M.M., Springfield, Mass.

DEAR M.M.: Indeed he has. The 33-year-old Frenchman, who is an avid hockey player, got his start making French language films in the early '90s. Stateside he's appeared in "The Next Best Thing" opposite Madonna, "Never Been Kissed" opposite Drew Barrymore, and the television mini-series "The Mists of Avalon" as Lancelot. You can catch him on the big screen Aug. 24 in the thriller "One Hour Photo," starring Robin Williams, from 20th Century Fox.
